● nivation nom féminin (latin nix, nivis, neige) Ensemble des phénomènes par lesquels la neige influe sur le relief.

GÉOGR. Action de la neige sur le relief. Les géographes désignent sous l'expression de nivation l'ensemble des phénomènes qui transforment la surface du sol dans les régions où les neiges jouent un grand rôle (ROUCH, Régions polaires, 1927, p. 16).
